RESIDENTS in Basingstoke are becoming increasingly “angry” and “frustrated” after facing long waiting times when they ring GP surgeries.
Residents have been sharing their frustrations about trying to get hold of some GP surgeries in the town, including the Camrose, Gillies and Hackwood (CGH) Partnership and Beggarwood Surgery both owned by American health firm Operose.
Ellen Marshall who lives in Basingstoke is just one resident who has shared her experience trying to reach the surgeries.

She said: “The situation with Operrose Health is absolutely appalling and it has taken over an hour to get through at Camrose, Gillies & Hackwood and everyone is complaining.
“I have a neighbour that took one and three quarter hours to answer the phone if you are lucky and they say they will ring you back but they don’t ring you back. When you ask to see a doctor we are told they are not making appointments to see a doctor.
“We know the doctors are fuming with it and it is putting a lot of strain on doctors.”
As previously reported the Gazette tried to contact CGH Partnership in Basingstoke and a pre-recorded message advised that it is “experiencing high volumes of calls”.
When trying to contact the Beggarwood Surgery at 11am, there was an engaged tone with the phone saying the line was busy, before the call was cut off.

Ellen added: “I really am getting fed up, we can’t go on like this, we can’t, it is not fair to the doctors and its really not fair to the patients.
“It needs a whole complete look over to find out what is going on.”
Hampshire County Councillor Kim Taylor said Operose has agreed to meet with local ward councillors to discuss its plans for the town’s surgeries.
