THE Gazette regularly reports on Basingstoke residents dealt with at the local courts, but these people were sentenced elsewhere last month.
From theft, speeding and failing to provide a speciman these people were dealt with at other courts around the country in February.
Under UK law, matters come before the courts where the allegation is said to have taken place, rather than where an accused person lives.
For example a person is caught speeding in a given area, it will be dealt with at the nearest possible court.
A BASINGSTOKE woman has been fined hundreds of pounds for stealing shoes from a shop in Festival Place.
Lisha Victoria Alexis Saunders, of Hackwood Road, admitted to taking black jacket, a white pair of trainers and a brown pair of shoes, to the value of £144.97 from TK Maxx on December 1, last year.
The offence was committed while she was subject of a suspended sentence order imposed on at Salisbury Magistrates’ Court on August 21, 2020, for offence of battery and possession of a bladed article.
The 37-year-old was fined £200. She must also pay £40 court costs and a £34 victim surcharge.
A BASINGSTOKE man has been banned from driving after he was caught speeding in Camberley.
Roger David Bethray, 74 and of Alexandra Road, was caught on a speed camera driving about the 50mph variable speed limit on the M3 at junctions 3 to 4.
He appeared at Staines Magistrates’ Court where he pleaded guilty to the offence which took place on March 30, last year.
He was banned from driving for six months and fined £86. He must also pay £110 court costs and a £34 victim surcharge.
MAGISTRATES have handed a Basingstoke man a community order for failing to provide a specimen.
Anthony Andrew Reed, 27 and of Quilter Road, was required to provide a specimen of blood for a laboratory test having driven a vehicle in Southampton on June 4, last year.
He appeared at West Hampshire Magistrates’ Court where he changed his plea to guilty.
Reed was told to complete 150 hours of unpaid work in the next 12 months and must do 32 days of a Thinking Skills programme.
He was also disqualified from driving for 72 months, along with paying a £95 victim surcharge and £85 court costs.
A DRIVER who was caught speeding at 6mph over the limit in Wales has been hit with points on his licence.
Jack Middleton, 26 and of Winchester Street, was caught driving at 36mph in a 30mph zone in Caerdydd on August 8, last year, while behind the wheel of a Renault Megane.
The case was dealt through single justice procedure.
Middleton was fined £220 and was hit with three points on his driving licence. He must also pay £90 court costs and a £34 victim surcharge.
A BASINGSTOKE man has been caught speeding in Lincolnshire and has been fined hundreds of pounds.
David Wood, of Puttenham Road, Chineham, admitted to speeding in Cowbit on September 30, last year. He was driving at 43mph in a 30 zone.
The 39-year-old was fined £500 and hit with four points on his licence. He must also pay £90 court costs and a £50 victim surcharge.
A MOTORIST who was spotted speeding on the outskirts of London has been given points on his licence.
John Matthew Duncan Tucker, 34 and of South Ham Road, Basingstoke, was driving a Ford Transit on August 12, last year, when he was caught driving at 58mphn in a 50 zone.
The offence took place on the A406 near off slip A1000 Finchley High Rd N12 to A406 west of Bounds Green Road.
He admitted the offence and was fined £226 and three points on his licence. He must also pay £90 court costs and a £34 victim surcharge.
MAGISTRATES have banned a Basingstoke man from driving after he was caught over the drink drive limit.
Harry Lewis Oliver, 23 and of Dollery Way, was caught while driving an Audi on the M3 northbound at Winchester on January 29. He was found to have 81 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath – the legal limit is 35.
He admitted the offence and was banned from driving for 20 months and fined £120.
He must also pay £85 court costs and a £34 victim surcharge.
