A VAN full of items collected by residents of Overton for refugees fleeing violence in Ukraine left the village today.
The collection drive, led by Rainy Carter of Kings Meadow, was a huge success as residence contributed thousands of items for the desperate people in Ukraine.
A team of 20 volunteers unpacked all the items today, sorted them, packed again and sent them in a van to Andover, from where it will go to Poland’s Ukrainian border tomorrow.

The items were packed at Amport church, which was also a collection site.
Rainy announced the collection drive early this week on Facebook after getting in touch with Edyta Janiso-Szkutkowska, who runs a Polish shop in Andover.
Edyta is leading the collection drive in Andover.
The Red Lion Pub, The Party Booth store, and 7 Paultons Road were some of the collection points in Overton.
Rainy said she received help from Micheldever Tyres to transport the items from Overton to Andover.
