THE battle of the brothers saw Bison forward Zack Milton come out on top over netminder Danny Milton, as the Herd beat the visiting Raiders 4-1 last Saturday.
The home side welcomed back Jay King and Thomas Banner into their ranks, but were minus Adam Jones, George Norcliffe and Cain Russell.
The Herd took the lead in the contest at 7:48, after Ashley Tait chased the puck down and set-up Alex Roberts to score on the back hand.
The Bison then doubled their advantage before the first break as a nice passing move saw Adam Harding and Aidan Doughty combine for Zack Milton to beat his brother from close range.
The second session saw the Herd’s Roberts hit the post after great spade work from Alex Sampford.
Soon after, man of the match Alex Mettam denied Tommy Huggett a one-on-one, as it remained 2-0 at the second buzzer.
The Bison made the game safe at 49:29 as Roberts was able to skate right around the net and find Tait in the slot to tap home.
The Herd then added a fourth on the powerplay, as Tait’s blue liner was tipped home by Doughty.
A powerplay strike from Jake Sylvester, 51 seconds before the final buzzer, denied Bison goalie Mettam his shut-out as the game finished 4-1.
On Sunday, the table topping under-14 Bison won 6-4 at Solent.
Ethan Wiltshire led the way with two goals, while Freddie Wilkinson, Ellis Austin, Daniel Bird and Finlay Spearing all scored once.
The under-12s enjoyed a 8-0 home victory over Oxford.
Hugo Skinns and Ethan Reardon both netted braces and there were single strikes from Henry Warwick, Ethan Hills, Ningyu Li and Lewis Battarbee.
The under-16s lost 8-2 in Swindon as Quinn Gow and Oliver Hemming-Maher were on target.
