A MOTORIST who was caught on the M3 at Basingstoke while over the drug drive limit has been disqualified.
Joshua Edwards was stopped while driving on the northbound carriageway on November 14, last year. He had less than 4.4ug/L, of Delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) in his blood – the legal limit is two.
During a hearing at Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court the 26-year-old pleaded guilty to the offence.
Edwards, of Croydon, was banned from driving for 12 months and fined £200. He must also pay £85 court costs and a £34 victim surcharge.
A further charge of driving while unfit through drugs was withdrawn.
A Basingstoke man has been ordered to complete unpaid work after he was found with an offensive weapon in a public place.
Kieran Black, of Cleaver Road, was found with an extendable asp in Canberra Way on November 21, 2020.
The 22-year-old admitted to the offence during a hearing at Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court.
He was ordered to complete up to 10 rehabilitation days and 80 hours of unpaid work. Black must also pay £85 court costs.
Forfeiture and destruction of the weapon was granted by magistrates.
A Basingstoke man has been hit with points on his licence after he was caught speeding.
Joynul Hoque, of Vivaldi Close, was spotted while driving a Ford Focus Zetec on October 12, last year, on Hatch Warren Way. He was travelling at 52mph – the legal limit was 30 mph.
During a hearing at Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court the 38-year-old pleaded guilty to the offence.
Magistrates endorsed his driving licence with six months and fined him £588. He must also pay £90 court costs and a £59 victim surcharge.
A Warrent has been issued for the arrest of a man who was allegedly caught with a Class B drug in Basingstoke.
James Tombs, 22 and of Sulham Walk, Reading, was allegedly found with a quantity of cannabis in the town on July 7, last year.
Now magistrates in Basingstoke have issued a warrant for his arrest without bail.
A Tadley man has been fined £180 after he was caught in possession of cocaine.
Joshua Denyer was caught with the Class A drug in Basingstoke on June 2, 2020. He had 2.20 grams of cocaine in his possession.
At Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court he pleaded guilty to the offence.
Magistrates also ordered him to pay £85 court costs and a £34 victim surcharge.
They also ordered for the drugs to be forfeited and destroyed.
A Hartley Wintney man has been handed a suspended sentence for failing to provide a specimen.
Karl Bailey, of Pippin Court, was required to provide a specimen of breath when he was suspected to have driven a vehicle while under the influence. The offence took place in Hartley Wintney on February 3.
The 31-year-old admitted to the failing to provide a specimen during a hearing at Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court.
Magistrates handed him an eight-week sentence suspended for 12 months. Bailey must also complete 15 days rehabilitation and was disqualified from driving for three years.
Bailey has been ordered to abstain from alcohol for 30 days and made subject of a curfew.
He also has to pay £85 court costs and a £128 victim surcharge.
