A THANKFUL resident from Basingstoke was overwhelmed when ‘kind-hearted’ strangers stopped to help her, after she fell and broke her leg.
Vernary Bachelor, 49, was making her way to Melrose Community Hall in Popley on January 15 when she tumbled over just "two minutes" away from the door of the hall.
Describing the fall Ms Bachelor, who was on the way to church on a “cold and frosty day”, said she“slipped and couldn’t move” and was left crying for help.
Laying in pain the 49-year-old was overwhelmed when she was heard by a stranger walking their dog along the path where she lay.
Vernary said: “I cried out three times and this gentleman passed with his dog and he came and asked if I was okay and I told him that I thought I had broken my leg.
“He helped me call 999 and while this was happening another lady called Sarah also called the ambulance and came down and gave me blankets and a facemask.
Vernary said it was lovely to know that the strangers just wanted to help.
She remembers being helped by several other people including passers by Sarah and Matthew and the Seventh Adventist church family who gave their time to check an ambulance had been called.
She added: “I just thought people are so kind and I only managed to get a couple of names of people who helped. I would like to tell the first gentlemen who stopped how grateful I am for his kindness.
“He took the time out to stop and I really appreciate it, no words can express how grateful I was because I was worried no one would pass and I just could not move. I felt so blessed that he took the time to stop and care for me.”

She was taken to hospital where it was confirmed she suffered a break to her leg, which she is still recovering from today.
Vernary, who was unable to get the names of the all the Good Samaritans, wants to get in touch with them to thank them.
