One of the country’s best loved heroes Simon Weston is calling on Basingstoke folk to nominate people who they believe represent ‘The Best Of British’.
Welsh Falklands War veteran Simon has again joined forces with global-hearing specialist Amplifon to find truly remarkable men, women, children and pets who are an example to the nation.
The Amplifon Awards For Brave Britons 2022 celebrate special achievements in the following categories: Act of Courage, Against All Odds, Charity Champion, Active Agers, Young Hero, Pet Hero, and Celebrity Hero.

Simon, who will chair the panel of judges, said: “The Amplifon Awards for Brave Britons will shine a light on a very British breed of hero: those who, through incredible acts of courage, bravery and selflessness, are an inspiration to others.
“We all know someone who deserves recognition for their bravery to help others, or their outstanding service to their country or community. It doesn’t matter whether people know them personally or have read about them in the media we still want them to nominate their heroes for this year’s Brave Briton awards.”
The awards are held in memory of the founder of Amplifon Major Charles Holland who was decorated for his bravery behind enemy lines during the Second World War. He was awarded both the MBE and the Military Cross and received the Bronze Star from the United States.

After the war Major Holland dedicated his life to providing better hearing for people affected by the conflict and in 1950 launched Amplifon, which has become a global company specialising in providing the best hearing solutions and devices.
The winners will be announced at a ceremony on Tuesday, October 11.
The closing date for entries is Friday, June 10. Nominations can be made at amplifon.com/uk/about-us/brave-briton-awards.
