TWO little sisters from Kempshott have been selling loom bands and bead bracelets in blue and yellow colours for the past two weeks in an effort to raise money for Ukraine.
Isabella Macklin, eight, and Rosie Macklin, six, have raised more than £150 so far and they are looking forward to reaching the £250 target soon.
Their mum Cheryl Macklin banks with NatWest Bank who have pledged to match the donations for Ukraine made by their customers. So Isabella and Rosie are hoping to contribute £500 for the refugees in distress.
Isabella and Rosie, who go to Kempshott junior school and Kempshott infant school respectively, decided to come up with the unique fundraiser when they dug through some craft items at home.
“They’re constantly making things,” their mum Cheryl said.
“They started off making bands and bracelets, and then found some blue and yellow beads – the colours of Ukraine. They really liked the look of the beaded bracelet. So we've been ordering some more of those.”
The little girls first started by selling the bands and bracelets to family and friends. Then they made a big poster and stuck next to their front door asking anyone to pick up their creativity and drop some donations.
I also put a post on my Facebook page and shared it that way,” Cheryl said.
“Mums from their schools have also been chatting about their fundraiser. We are also getting orders from there.”
Diane Knight, their nan, said: “They are such caring, kind, little humans. They worry about people who don’t have much. I am very proud of them. They are wonderful little girls. It just touches your heart.”
