RUNNERS of Basingstoke and surrounding areas dusted off their trainers on Sunday ahead of the Festival 5K.
The run started at Festival Place, Sunday, April 3 at 9am and saw 280 registered runners of all abilities race around the town centre, shops, business area and the parks, where they finished back at Festival Place.
In a bid to make the race more sustainable, event organisers teamed up with Trees not Tees, where participants had a tree planted, instead of receiving a T-shirt.

It is part of a UK sustainable reforestation project and the environment benefit of planting a tree. Runners also received a picture of their tree, as well as a certificate once they had completed the race.
