THE temporary Covid-19 testing site in Basingstoke is being removed today as testing for the virus has now changed.
Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council said the Churchill Way East car park will be closed from 6pm today until 8am on Saturday, April 9 while the testing site is taken away, allowing lorries and heavy equipment to safely access and leave the site.

The site opened exactly a year ago today on April 6, 2021, replacing the site set up at The Anvil.
It offered PCR tests for those with Covid-19 symptoms.
However, the site is no longer needed following changes to testing from April 1.
This includes PCR tests no longer available to most people with Covid-19 symptoms.
Only a small number of people who are particularly at risk or who work in certain health and social care settings will be able to have a PCR test.
