UPDATE: THE road has now reopened
A ROAD has been closed in both directions following a crash on the A340 today (April 7).
Aldermaston Road is currently closed in both directions between Elm Road and Monk Sherborne Road.
Residents have been asked to avoid the area, due to delays and building traffic.

AA traffic news stated: "Road closed and slow traffic due to crash on A340 West End both ways between Elm Road (Elm Bottom Cross) and Monk Sherborne Road. The road has been closed since 14:35."

A spoesperson from Hampshire police, said: "We were called at 1.41pm to a report of a collision involving two cars on Aldermaston Road, Sherborne St John.
"One person has reported a back injury and the road is closed while we deal with the incident."
A spokesperson from South Central Ambulance Service added: "We were called at 13:39 to Aldermaston Road to a collision involving two vehicles.
"We sent to the scene two ambulance crews to assess and treat one patient for non life threatening injuries. Following treatment at the scene by our crews the patient was taken to North Hampshire Hospital."
