A SCHOOLGIRL from Oakridge has been praised for cleaning up her community and influencing others.
Millie Holmes, 5 from South View infant school has been praised by her parents for litter picking in her area.
Millie's father, Carl Holmes said: "She's just that sort of person. She started to write letters and draw pictures and she wanted to send them to everyone in the world, I said that's not possible but she's just that sort of kid.
"She's really caring about everyone. We praise her and tell her we're proud of her. We encourage her to be a nice person but I think she was born that way anyway. She's just just one of those naturally nice kids."
Millie has been encouraging her father to take her litter picking in order to clean up her local community and has since encouraged others to do the same.
Carl said: "We're just waiting for better weather before we go out again. Everytime we go out it's either raining or snowing. The last thing I was her doing is getting a cold. But as the weather brightens up we'll be getting out as much as we can.
"We had a few people stop and say what a good idea it was and they're going to start doing it as well.
"I'm over the moon with her. She's obviously picked up that littering isn't right and she's always saying how much rubbish there is so she has started doing something about it."
Millie has since asked her dad to take her on nature walks out of curiosity for nature.
