A LORRY driver from Basingstoke has been forced to pay more than £400 after driving a HGV more than three times the legal weight.
Mark Christopher Kitchen, of Basingfield Close, Basingstoke, was driving on Mill Lane Newbury on September 14 in a vehicle with an axle weight of 23.7 tonnes.
The maximum permitted axle weight is 7.5 tonnes.
On April 8 at Reading Magistrates' Court, the offence was proven in Kitchen's absence.
The 56-year-old was handed a £220 fine and must also pay a surcharge of £34 and costs of £180.
