AN OLD Basing man has been handed a suspended sentence after damaging £500 worth of furniture at a Basingstoke hotel.
Alistair James Stewart, of Lower Mill, Newnham Lane, damaged bedroom furniture at the Great Western Hotel on Vyne Road on February 9 2016.
At Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court on April 1, the 28-year-old was handed a nine-week prison sentence, suspended for 18 months.
He was also ordered to comply with an alcohol abstinence requirement, carry out 30 rehabilitation days, pay £500 in compensation, an £80 surcharge and £85 in costs.
Stewart also admitted to using threatening or abusive language towards a woman on the same date, and failing to surrender top custody on February 23 2016, as well as committing the offences while already subject to a suspended sentence.
He was fined an additional £100.
A BASINGSTOKE man has been fined more than £100 for flytipping at Popley Fields Recycling Centre.
Nuno Fillipe Carapinha Martins, of Tasmania Close, deposited controlled waste at the site on Carpenters Down on March 30 2021.
The 40-year-old indicated a plea of guilty at Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court on April 5 2022.
He was handed a £133 fine and must also pay a £34 surcharge and costs of £90.
A MAN has been fined after he assaulted a detention worker in Basingstoke last year.
On August 3 2021, Kevin Marriot, of Greenhill Road, Halesdown, assaulted emergency worker Lucas Wicks by beating him.
At Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court on April 5 2022, the 61-year-old changed his plea from not guilty to guilty.
He was handed a £150 fine and must also pay a £34 surcharge and costs of £40.
A WARRANT has been issued for the arrest of a Basingstoke man who breached his community order.
On February 19 and February 26, Charlie McGregor Morrisen of Cannon Close, Green Lane, Ellisfield, did not turn up for unpaid work required of him by an order issued on September 27 2021.
On April 6, at Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court, a warrant was issued for the 26-year-old’s arrest.
A HAMPSHIRE prisoner has admitted to assaulting an emergency worker and damaging property at Festival Place in Basingstoke.
On April 7 at Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court, George David Dicker, an inmate at HMP Winchester, indicated pleas of guilty to the offences which took place on February 22 2022.
The 52-year-old damaged a decorative planter belonging to the shopping centre, to the value of £80, and also assaulted police officer Rebecca Mason on the same day.
He has been remanded in custody until April 14 at the same court.
A BASINGSTOKE woman has been fined more than £400 for dropping a cigarette at a riverside location.
Rebecca Newman, of Englefield Way, disposed of the cigarette on Erith Pier on September 5 2021.
The 30-year-old admitted to the offence at Bexley Magistrates’ Court on April 4.
She was handed a £440 fine and must also pay £300 in costs.
A WARRANT has been issued for the arrest of a Basingstoke man found guilty of abusive behaviour towards a woman on two occasions last year.
Michael Daniel March, of Dartmouth Way, used language or behaviour intended to cause alarm or distress towards the woman on May 20 and 25 2021.
He pleaded not guilty on August 26, but the offences were proved in his absence at Aldershot Magistrates’ Court on April 6.
The 34-year-old was additionally convicted of failing to surrender to or answer the court and a warrant was issued for his arrest.
