A GROUP of ice skaters from Basingstoke displayed a terrific performance at the Blackpool Ice Skating Festival last week as they returned with 11 medals.

In the beginner ladies age 15+ category, Lydia Absolom finished second and Alex Hammond finished third. In the ISU intermediate ladies, Ava - Mae Wilson was ranked first, while in the non ISU intermediate ladies, Charli Gillard finished second.
In adult bronze category, Helen Leighs was ranked second. In the Jason Kelly exhibition, Eleanor Flitter won a second place and Florence Hayward finished third.
In the Maureen Hart exhibition, Charli Gillard won the first position, while Ava - Mae Wilson finished second.
In the show team event, Pearly Princesses were ranked second and The Mighty Roar finished third.
After the event, coach Rachael Powell said: “I am so proud of all the Basingstoke skaters that took part in the ice festival.
“The girls skated their hearts out and gave some memorable performances. They enjoyed every second of being on the ice and entertaining the judges and audience. These competitions show the talent that the ice skaters have and why we must keep ice in Basingstoke.”
