The event, on Saturday, May 7 from 11am to 3pm, is being held at Viables Craft Centre, in the Harrow Way and has been organised by the Women’s Institute Hampshire.

A total of 28 dresses, two saris and five bridesmaids’ dresses will be on display, some of which have interesting stories behind them.

Sue Atrill, who has helped organise the exhibition, has included her own wedding dress in the display, which was worn by three brides, one of whom was her mother.

She said: “The aim is to show the lovely dresses worn by women over the past 100 or so years. We have dresses from 1902 up to the present day.”

Tickets cost £10 and can be bought by emailing ticketing@hampshirewi.org.uk.
