AN experienced vocal coach and former primary school teacher is set to bring singing and drama lessons to Hook in a bid to give them the confidence to confidence to “conquer” any challenge.
Young people in North Hampshire will soon be able to take centre stage when experienced vocal coach and former primary school teacher, Jackie Harrison, brings award-winning Little Voices singing and drama lessons to Basingstoke.
Little Voices is a national performing arts school that helps boost children’s confidence and social skills, as well as their performing abilities.

Jackie said: “I started singing at the age of five and have been involved in music, drama, and singing ever since. As well as being a qualified primary school teacher, specialising in Drama, I’m also a qualified and very experienced singing teacher, so have had the pleasure of teaching adults and children of all ages and I love nurturing talent.”
Jackie has lived in hook for many years and was a former teacher at Old Basing Infants school and St Bedes in Popley.
She said that the singing lessons are about much more than “helping children” who “dream of a life” on centre stage.
She added: “There’s no getting away from the fact that our children have so much more to deal with as they grow up these days, and the skills they learn with us can help give them the confidence to conquer the many challenges that they will need to face in our ever-changing world. That’s why I’m so delighted to be providing these wonderful singing and drama classes in Hook to help support young people in my own community which has been such a huge part of my life for many years.”
Little Voices was co-founded in 2007 by Jane James, a classically trained opera singer with a background as a singing teacher. Today, they have 26 franchises across the UK and teach thousands of children and young people every week.

Jane Maudsley, founder and CEO of Little Voices, added: “We’re absolutely thrilled to have Jackie on board. She’s a talented singer, with an incredible teaching background and a passion for performing, all of which will be a huge benefit to the children who join her classes. Little Voices classes will be starting at Hook Community Centre from Wednesday 4th May and parents whose children would like to give it a try are welcome to book a free trial lesson.”
