FIREFIGHTERS tackled a blaze at a derelict former toy store in Basingstoke last night (Sunday, May 1).
Crews from Basingstoke, Tadley, Hartley Wintney, Odiham and Eastleigh, as well as a command support vehicle from Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service headquarters, were called to the derelict ToysRUs unit at Brighton Hill Retail Park in Winchester Road at 9.29pm.
A spokesperson said: "Smoke could be seen coming from the building and firefighters wearing breathing apparatus tackled a fire inside using jets and hose reel jets. A ventilation fan was used to clear smoke."
The stop message was received at 12:11am this morning and police were informed.
The Gazette has contacted Hampshire COnstabulary for comment.
