- A MAN has admitted to assaulting a police officer in Basingstoke last year.
On April 23 2021, Mark Christopher Hope of Perring Avenue, Farnborough, assaulted James Copley by beating him.
The 35-year-old originally pleaded not guilty on January 19.
However, on April 27 at Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court, he changed his plea to guilty.
The case has now been adjourned until May 11 for a pre-sentence report to be produced.
- A BASINGSTOKE man has been handed a fine after failing to attend his court-ordered unpaid work.
Matthew James Knight, of Greenbirch Close, failed to attend the work on February 26 and March 19 2022, after being handed a community order on February 11 2021.
Appearing at Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court on April 27, the 32-year-old admitted the breach and was fined £50.
- A MAN has admitted to assaulting four people in Basingstoke on one day last year.
On July 31 2021, Darren Graham of no fixed abode, assaulted a detention officer, police officer, and two others.
The 50-year-old also destroyed a police van, and used abusive or threatening words or behaviour towards another man.
At Basingstoke Magistrates; Court on April 29, Graham pleaded guilty to all of the offences.
The case was adjourned until May 20 for a pre-sentence report to be prepared.
- A BASINGSTOKE woman has been fined more than £100 for keeping an unlicensed vehicle.
Georgette McCarthy-Compton, of Lady Margaret Hall Way, was found on March 25, to have a Volkswagen Golf which had been unlicensed since June 30 2021.
The 30-year-old pleaded guilty at Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court on April 29 and was fined £120.
She must also pay back duty of £93.75 and costs of £85.
- A MAN has been forced to pay nearly £1000 after he drove in Basingstoke while more than three times the drug drive limit.
On February 4 2021, Shannon Gerard Michael of Cornfield Close, Spalding, Lincolnshire, drove along Winchester Road (A30) with more than 7ug/l of cannabinoid Delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) in his blood.
The legal limit is 2.
The 35-year-old previously pleaded not guilty, but changed his plea to guilty at Aldershot Magistrates’ Court on April 27 2022.
He was fined £300, with a surcharge of £34.
He was also ordered to pay £620 in costs and was disqualified from holding or obtaining a driving licence for three years.
- A BASINGSTOKE man has admitted to drink driving in the town, while also uninsured and disqualified.
On January 22 2022, David Knott of South Ham Road drove a Mercedes-Benz vehicle on Grafton Way in Basingstoke with 132 milligrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood. The limit is 80.
He pleaded guilty to all three counts at Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court on April 26.
The 60-year-old was remanded on unconditional bail until his next hearing on June 1.
- A BASINGSTOKE man has been handed a fine for drug driving in Winchester.
On February 11, James Dowson of Western Way drove on the A30 when the proportion of a controlled drug, namely the cannabinoid Delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), in his blood was 6.2ug/L.
The legal limit is 2.
At Basingstoke Magistrates Court on April 26, the 40-year-old pleaded guilty and was handed a £120 fine.
He must also pay costs of £40 and was disqualified from driving for 12 months.
- A BASINGSTOKE man has been handed a community for possession of Class A drugs.
On March 8, Paul Mitchell of Pinkerton Road was found with quantities of heroine and crack cocaine.
He pleaded guilty and, at Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court on April 26, was given a community order.
The 53-year-old must complete 50 hours of unpaid work and 10 rehabilitation activity days.
He must also pay a £95 surcharge and costs of £40 and an order was made for forfeiture and destruction of the drugs.
