A VEHICLE has left the road and ended up in a ditch after being involved in a collision this morning.

Firefighters crews from Basingstoke and Tadley were called to the incident today (May 17) following a road traffic collision on West Heath Road in Baughurst.

A spokesperson from Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service, said: "Firefighters were called at 11:19 this morning following a road traffic collision on West Heath Road in Baughurst. 

"Tadley and Basingstoke crews were on the scene where one vehicle had left the road and gone into a ditch. 

"Firefighters stabilised the car as paramedics assessed the driver. 

"The casualty was assisted from the car and left in the care of paramedics, before HIWFRS returned to station at midday."

Hampshire Police have since confirmed the driver, aged in his 90s, has been taken to North Hampshire Hospital.

A spokesperson added: "We were called at 11.13am with reports that a vehicle had left the road and come to rest in a ditch in West Heath, Baughurst.

"The driver, aged in his 90s, was taken to North Hampshire Hospital as a precaution.

"The vehicle has since been recovered."

Basingstoke RDS also tweeted about the incident.

 

They tweeted: "*11:37* #OnCall crews required for standby duties @Basingstoke_01 whilst all appliances attended an RTC trapped in #Baughurst."
