A BASINGSTOKE man has been handed a community sentence after assaulting a woman last year.
On December 7 2021, Martin Cartwright, of Lady Margaret Hall Way, assaulted the woman in Fleet, and caused her actual bodily harm.
At Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court on May 9, the 45-year-old was handed 180 hours of unpaid work, as well as 30 rehabilitation activity days.
He must also pay costs of £85 and a £95 surcharge.
A DRIVER has been handed a fine after failing to provide a breath sample when requested to by police.
On January 22, James Fraser of Collingwood Walk, failed to engage with a breath analysis test in Basingstoke, without reasonable excuse.
At Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court on May 10, the 27-year-old pleaded guilty to the offence.
He was fined £120 and disqualified from driving for 16 months.
Fraser must also pay costs of £40 and a £34 surcharge.
A BASINGSTOKE man has been been handed a fine and driving disqualification for drug driving in the town.
On March 1, David Saunders, of Dryden Close, drove along Forsythia Walk with 5.1 microgrammes of Delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) - a cannabis compound - in his blood. The legal limit is two.
He was also found to have 3g of cannabis in his possession on the same date.
At Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court on May 10, the 42-year-old pleaded guilty to the offences.
He was fined £120 and disqualified from driving for a 12-month period.
Saunders must also pay £34 surcharge and £40 in costs.
In addition, an order was made for forfeiture and destruction on the drugs.
A BASINGSTOKE man has been handed a fine after assaulting a woman.
Richard Herbert, of Arlott Drive, was charged with common assault after an attack against a woman on April 24.
The 23-year-old pleaded guilty to the offence at Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court on May 10, and was handed a £120 fine, plus costs of £40.
A TADLEY man has admitted to making more than 100 indecent images of children.
Between July 1 2020 and January 6 2021, Shaun Winchcombe, of Broad Halfpenny Lane, made 13 Category B and 166 Category C images.
The 62-year-old pleaded guilty at Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court on May 10.
He will next appear at the same court on June 16.
A BASINGSTOKE man has been ordered to pay more than £1,000 after he disclosed a private sexual photograph or film of a woman last year.
On October 7, Bryce Greensmith of Bermuda Close, disclosed the image, without the woman’s consent, in order to cause distress.
The 24-year-old was handed an £833 fine at Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court on May 10.
He must also pay costs of £85, and an £83 surcharge, making a total of £1,001.
A MAN has been given a suspended sentence after assaulting a police officer in Basingstoke last year.
On April 23 2021, Mark Christopher Hope, of London Road, Datchet, assault the officer in Basingstoke.
The 35-year-old previously denied the offence and elected to be tried at magistrates’ court, but changed his plea to guilty on January 19 2022.
At Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court on May 11, he was handed a 12-week custodial sentence, suspended for 18 months.
Hope must complete 19 days of Thinking Skills programme and engage with rehabilitation activity supervision.
He must also pay compensation of £130, costs of £100.
