THE owners of a bowling alley in Basingstoke want to install almost 200 solar panels on the roof of the attraction.
Hollywood Bowl, which runs the tenpin bowling alley at Basingstoke Leisure Park in Worting Road, has submitted a planning application to Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council asking for permission to install 195 solar panels on the roof of the building.

The company said in its application that the solar panels would generate around 111,210kWh of electricity each year.
Equipment associated with the panels would be sited on the roof to “minimise the effect on the external appearance of the building”.
It said the solar panels will not protrude more than 0.2 metres beyond the plane of the roof slope.
The borough council is set to make a decision by July 15.
