A NEW and exciting ballet based on a popular Shakespeare tale will be taking to the stage in Basingstoke to provide an evening of breathtaking entertainment for audiences to enjoy.
Ballet Cymru presents DREAM, which is a vibrant, fresh, and innovative new full-length ballet based on Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream, at The Haymarket on Friday, June 10.
The ballet will be working with award-winning instrumentalist and composer Frank Moon, and Ballet Cymru have created a magical world of fairies, lovers, and bewitching enchantment, playing with ideas of inclusion and gender in a show which is guaranteed to entertain.

This sparkling re-interpretation of ballet for the 21st Century features Ballet Cymru’s ground-breaking dancers, stunning video projection, and innovative choreography from artistic directors Darius James OBE and Amy Doughty.
Critics’ Circle award-winning company, Ballet Cymru is an international touring ballet company for Wales, committed to inclusion and innovation in dance and classical ballet, and the highest standard of collaboration.
The company produces original professional dance performances that tour nationally and internationally.
Its extensive Access and Outreach programme is committed to breaking down barriers to accessing the arts.
The company’s commitment to education has also developed immensely with the Paul Hamlyn Foundation DUETS programme in collaboration with Rubicon Dance, an established Ballet Associate Programme, international summer school Riverfront Summer Dance, inspirational work in schools, and development opportunities for graduate and professional dancers.
The group recently moved into its new base, which can now be found in Newport. The studio boasts one of the largest dance areas in Wales and is used regularly by The Royal Academy of Dance and the Cecchetti Ballet Society.
Frank Moon is one of the leading composers for dance in the UK, and his compositions include The Metamorphosis (Royal Opera House, winner of an Olivier Award, a Sky Arts South Bank Award, and the Critic’s Circle National Dance Award) and The Little Match Girl (Jerwood DanceEast / Sadler’s Wells).
Tickets are priced at £22.50; over 65s, under 25s and f/t students £20.50.
