A HOST of events and activities are taking place this week in Basingstoke to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.
To mark the special occasion, Love Basingstoke has organised events throughout the week including over the extended bank holiday weekend, providing the opportunity for communities to come together to celebrate the historic milestone.

The programme of activities begins on Monday, May 30 when families can enjoy free fun in Market Place from 11am to 3pm.
Families can enjoy creating upcycled bunting, making a balloon corgi or designing a commemorative plaque.
On Tuesday, May 31 there will be the chance to help create a ‘Queen’s Sheep’ with artist Louise Hight while fellow artist Rachel Davis will host a royal themed arts and crafts activity.
Both events run between 11am and 3pm in Market Place.
On Wednesday, June 1 children can enjoy building LEGO carriages and crowns with The Brick People in Cross Street between 11am and 3pm.
There will also be a special moving statue.
On Saturday, June 4 an interactive tour around the Top of Town will be held with Peddlars and Petticoats who will narrate stories about days and people gone by.
Those wishing to take part are asked to meet at the Register Office adjacent to War Memorial Park at 11am or 2pm.
The celebrations will culminate on Sunday, June 5 with a Jubilee picnic in War Memorial Park.
The community is invited to bring a picnic to celebrate Her Majesty’s historic 70 year reign, and enjoy fun and entertainment including performances from Levantes Dance High Tea, a BMX show, giant outdoor games, installations, workshops and walkabouts.
All events are free to attend and no booking is required.
