FIRE crews have left a residential street in Popley after tackling a roof blaze earlier today (Thursday, June 9).
Abbey Road was shut this afternoon as emergency services descended on the scene.
Basingstoke, Rushmoor, Sutton Scotney and Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service were tackling the fire from two houses.
The fire, which involved the roof space of two properties in a terraced row, is now out.
No injuries have been reported.
Posting to Twitter shortly after 6pm, Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service said: "The fire is now out and our crews are starting to leave after carrying out community safety activity with local residents.
"The fire involved the roof space of two homes, but thankfully no one has been injured."
The smell of smoke hung in the air as the final fire engine departed at approximately 8pm.
