A TEENAGER from Hook has been handed a suspended sentence after driving whilst disqualified.
Liam Thompson, of Bell Meadow Road, was driving a Ford Focus in Fleet Road, Hartley Wintney, on October 30, 2021, while disqualified from holding a license.
The 19-year-old pleaded guilty to the offence and was handed a 12-week custodial sentence, suspended for 18 months, at Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court on May 25.
The reason given was that he “has a flagrant disregard for court orders”.
In addition, he must complete 120 hours of unpaid work, and pay costs of £85 and a £128 surcharge.
A BASINGSTOKE woman has been handed a fine after admitting to assaulting two people including an emergency worker.
Elisabeth Deane, of Ruskin Close, assaulted a man by beating him in Basingstoke on March 2, and additionally she assaulted a police officer, PC Little, on the same date.
The 48-year-old also admitted to using threatening language or behaviour at North Hampshire Hospital, five days later on March 7.
After pleading guilty to the offences, Deane was sentenced at Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court on May 25, where she was handed a £100 fine, and ordered to pay compensation of £50, costs of £40 and a surcharge of £95.
She must also complete 25 rehabilitation activity days.
A POPLEY man has been fined for speeding in Reading earlier this year.
On April 7, Paul Natanael Ciungan, 34, of Abbey Road, was driving a Mercedes along the A34 Berkeley Road at more than the 30mph speed limit.
At Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court on May 26, he was handed a £66 fine plus a £34 surcharge, making a total of £100.
His driving record was also endorsed with three penalty points.
A MAN has been forced to pay more than £500 for drug driving in Basingstoke.
Conrad Lawrence, of Stubbs Lane, Beckington in Frome, Somerset, was driving on the A30 at Basingstoke on April 28 while unfit to drive due to drugs.
At Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court on May 26, the 34-year-old pleaded guilty and was handed a £415 fine and ordered to pay costs of £85 and a £34 surcharge, making a total of £542.
He was also disqualified from holding a license for 12 months.
A BASINGSTOKE man has been handed a suspended sentence after he assaulted a woman and damaged her phone at a pub in the town.
Paul Johnson, of Maldive Road, assaulted the woman at The Dragonfly pub on April 17, as well as damaging her mobile phone.
At Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court on May 27, a restraining order was put in place, prohibiting Johnson from having any contact with the woman for the next two years.
He was also handed 26 weeks in custody, suspended for two years, 10 rehabilitation activity days and a 30-day ‘building better relationships’ programme requirement.
He must also pay £500 in compensation.
A BASINGSTOKE man has denied stalking a woman in the town earlier this year.
Haydn Curtis, of Hasket Road, is accused of harassing the woman by “loitering outside her address and looking through her windows” as well as making multiple unwanted communications between January 1 and February 12, 2022.
At Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court on May 30, the 37-year-old pleaded not guilty to the offence.
He will next appear at the same court on November 21.
A BASINGSTOKE man has been handed a fine for using threatening or abusive language or behaviour in the town last year.
Gar Dunleavy, of Bernstein Road, committed to offence on July 5, 2021, and was handed an £80 fine at Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court on June 6, 2022.
The 54-year-old must also pay costs of £85 and a £34 surcharge.
