A POPULAR Basingstoke children's play area remains closed following 'essential maintenance work' while waters standards checks are carried out.
As previously reported, the splash pad at Chineham Park in Popley was closed by the council last week (Friday, June 17), on the hottest day of the year, for maintenance works to be done.
A further announcement extended the closure over the weekend, as the equipment needed to be assessed.
However, the facility which is popular with families during the summer months remains closed more than a week later - with a reopening date yet to be announced.
