In my previous letter, I never strayed into Maria Miller's 'take' on the situation at Brighton Hill, but suffice it to say that the lady is barking up the wrong tree:
"Whilst it might be understandable that in the past geographically accurate records were difficult to compile, as you point out, these fibre optic cables cables only have been laid relatively recently."

From her position of technical ignorance, I must correct her, cables are not directly buried in the ground but pulled into existing ductwork.
Please note some of BT 's infrastructure, including ducts and manholes are over 100 years old and are utilised by new cables if space is available.
She does make me laugh, spouting off about matters of which she knows nothing. Ignorance is bliss in an old adage.
Additionally, the Brighton Hill roundabout has been re-engineered over the years, so the geography has changed somewhat. BT 's ducts will have remained in place of course.
