A RESIDENT in Basingstoke has spotted some “beautiful” baby blackbirds in their garden.
Christine Rozak, from Brighton Hill, who works in The Tea Bar in Basingstoke took these stunning photos in her garden.
The first photo of the baby birds had been taken on June 9 and she has been watching them ever since.
She said: “I’ve been watching them hatch and grow since then the last photo was taken just yesterday 29th June, there has been a magpie flying around, which I do scare off to try and protect them.”
She said she watched blackbirds make the nest and lay the eggs.
Blackbirds nests are built by the female and are usually low down in any suitable cover. Trees, shrubs and climbers are preferred, but nests can be found inside buildings, occasionally even on the ground. The nest is a substantial cup of grass, straw, small twigs and other plant material.

She added: “Two eggs appeared first, followed by another three. They began to hatch and are now a few days out of their shells.
“It has been raining and mother blackbird has been sheltering them from the rain. Amazing to witness and I would love to share these photos.”
