RESIDENTS are being asked to give their views to help redesign a popular but outdated play area.
Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council want to hear views about The Lime Pits to enhance the facilities and landscaping to benefit the community.
The council plans to refurbish the play area by the end of March 2023 and is asking people to suggest what new play equipment they would like to see, to meet the needs of a wide range of visitors.

The Lime Pits play area will be the first to receive an uplift as part of the council’s Play Refurbishment Programme.
Cllr Rebecca Bean, cabinet member for resident services, said: “The Lime Pits is one of our most popular open spaces, enjoyed by people of all ages. However, the play area is old and outdated and in need of upgrading.
“We want to make sure that the play area is fit for the future and to do that we need the help of the park users, to help us shape the plans.
“Although the location of the play area rules out certain types of play, such as water and sand, we are interested in hearing ideas from the community, so I’d encourage visitors to the park share their thoughts by taking part in the consultation.”
People have until Sunday, July 24 to give their views and can do this through the council’s website: basingstoke.gov.uk/lime-pits-play-area-refurbishment.
The responses received from the consultation will shape the final design of the facilities and work is expected to start later this year.

A wider consultation on the parks and open spaces towards the eastern edge of Basingstoke is also currently taking place to get people’s views on a high-level plan to protect, enhance and better link them together.
The council want to listen to views on: Eastrop Park, War Memorial Park, Black Dam Ponds, Crabtree Plantation, Basing Common and Mill Field.
This wider consultation closes on Friday, July 8.
