AROUND 25 tones of hay were involved in a large fire at a farm over the weekend.
Basingstoke firefighters and crews from Royal Berkshire were called to a large fire involving hay on a farm on Goddards Lane in Sherfield-on-Loddon on Saturday afternoon (July 2) at around 14:48pm.
Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service confirmed around 25 tonnes of hay were involved in the fire.

A spokesperson said: "Crews requested a water carrier vehicle from Fleet and made use of one of the farms agricultural vehicles to help tackle the blaze along with jets, hose reels and breathing apparatus.
“Relief crews took over from the firefighters first on the scene before the incident was handed over to the farmer to monitor as a controlled burn.

“Crews returned to station at 22:27 with a reinspection taking place a few hours later to ensure the incident hadn’t flared up again."
