A BASINGSTOKE racing driver is stepping up to the top level of British GT racing with an aim to compete at the world famous 24 Hours of LeMans in 2025.
Nick Halstead, in his first race in GT3 this year, scored a podium – an incredible feat for a debut appearance at this level.
In his most recent race at Snertterton, his team came home with two sixth places.
This means his team has now finished top 10, and scored points at every race this season.

Nick said: “Going into this British GT season we knew it was going to be tough stepping up into such a competitive class whilst trying to learn the new GT3 Mclaren, but I’m really happy with the start we’ve made.
To finish our first race with a podium at Oulton Park against such a strong field was incredible, and something we’ve been chasing every weekend since.
We’ve had some races that haven’t always gone our way as a result of contact with other drivers, punctures and electrical faults, but to have finished in the points at every race this season is something for the team to be very happy with.”
Nick’s next round is at the iconic Spa-Francorchamps circuit in Belgium on July 22-24, a track he knows very well and has won at previously.
He said: “On a personal note, to be consistently performing at the front of the Am field against drivers who have been competing at this level for years is a real accomplishment, and I look forward to showing what else I can do in the second half of the season.

“Our next race is at Spa-Francorchamps, where I’ve won before, and being a high speed track that will suit the Mclaren 720s I’m really confident we can be in the mix, and hopefully even bag us another podium.”
