A BASINGSTOKE man has been forced to pay more than £400 and has been disqualified after drug driving and driving without insurance.
On January 21, Johnny Giles, of Brahms Road, was driving along his street with 32ug/L of cocaine in his blood. The legal limit is 10.
The 35-year-old additionally had 800ug/L of cocaine product benzoylecgonine, when the legal limit is 50.
Giles was also found not to hold a relevant insurance policy.
At Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court last month, he pleaded guilty to all three offences and was handed a £365 fine.
He must also pay costs of £85 and a £36 surcharge and was disqualified from driving for 15 months.
A VAN driver from Basingstoke has been fined for drug driving in the town.
On March 29, Blaze Daley, of Chiltern Way, was driving a Ford Transit vehicle at the junction of Church Street and Cross Street with 2.9 microgrammes of the cannabinoid THC per litre of blood. The legal limit is two.
At Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court last month, the 32-year-old pleaded guilty and was handed a £140 fine.
He must also pay costs of £40 and a £34 surcharge, and was disqualified from driving for 12 months.
A BASINGSTOKE man has been ordered to complete unpaid work after driving in the town while more than three times the drink limit.
Gareth Kelly, of Bedstone Road, drove a Kia Rio on Norn Hill on June 3 with 124 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath.
The legal limit is 35.
Pleading guilty to the offence at Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court in June, the 31-year-old was handed a community order consisting of 135 hours of unpaid work.
He was also disqualified from driving for 30 months, and must pay costs of £85 and a £95 surcharge.
A BASINGSTOKE man who used threatening or abusive language and behaviour to cause distress to another person has been handed a rehabilitation order.
At Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court, Jack Gray, of Millard Close, pleaded to guilty to the offence against a woman last month.
The 29-year-old must complete 20 rehabilitation activity days, and take part in an alcohol treatment programme for nine months.
He must also pay compensation of £100, plus costs of £85.
AN OVERTON man has been found guilty of calling 999 without an emergency and persistently using a public communications network illegally.
Between October 22 and 25 2021, Simon Beynon, of Pond Close, called 999 without a genuine emergency, despite being prohibited to do so by a previously issued criminal behaviour order put in place in May 2021.
In addition, the 44-year-old was charged with using a public electronic communications network “for the purpose of causing annoyance, inconvenience or needless anxiety to another” on two occasions.
Beynon pleaded not guilty to all three offences on March 1, but was proved guilty at Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court on June 17. On June 21 the case was adjourned for sentencing at Winchester Crown Court.
Beynon was remanded on unconditional bail until July 21.
A BASINGSTOKE woman has been forced to pay more than £500 for driving while more than seven times the drug limit.
Sarah Taylor of St Luke’s Close was driving along Coniston Road on February 13 with 362ug/L of cocaine product benzoylecgonine in her blood.
The limit is 50.
At Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court last month the 54-year-old pleaded guilty and was fined £440, as well as disqualified from driving for 12 months.
She must also pay costs of £85 and a £44 surcharge, making a total of £569.
