AN ENVIRONMENTAL action group based in Basingstoke has changed its name to reach out to more people.
Basingstoke Transition Network, which has been working to make the community more sustainable, less reliant on fossil fuel and a better place to live, has changed its name to Greener Basingstoke.
A spokesperson for the organisation said the name change is to link more easily to the environment.

"The Transition Network is a brilliant movement that wants to transform communities for a low-carbon, socially just future.
“However, not everyone is familiar with that movement, and we wanted a name that does what it says on the tin for the layperson. Greener Basingstoke has the same goals and objectives as BTN, but is a name that links more easily to the environment and needs no explanation."
Greener Basingstoke also organised a walk for climate and nature on Saturday to raise awareness of the climate and ecological emergency.

The walk started from Basingstoke train station and proceeded through the town to the council offices and ended in a picnic at War Memorial Park.
