RESIDENTS in Basingstoke have been invited to meet a "lovable" lion mascot.
On Saturday, July 30 between 9.30am and 4.30pm residents can head to Castle Square in Basingstoke to meet the loved and loving Basingstoke Lions Club’s mascot in and around his lair.
Usually only seen by chance at fetes, fairs, supermarket and other community events, this is a day when snuggles, cuddles and/hi-fives from the gentle beast will be very likely.

In addition, for a small fee children, can have their face-painted on site between 10am and 4pm.
The first 40 children to the lair will also get a free colour-it-yourself lion facemask to take home so the fun can continue.

Residents can also take home a photographic memento of the visit by stepping into the huge lion picture, alone or with a friend to get the perfect snap.
For the parents, the third popular Lions’ pre-loved book sale will also be on hand to offer a huge array of secondhand books, all looking for homes and each costing just 50p.
