Deputy mayor of Basingstoke and Deane Cllr David Leeks, said: “It was a fascinating and uplifting experience to attend the Basingstoke Mosque open day. I am sure that I am not alone in saying that I have often wondered what being inside the Mosque would be like and so it was wonderful to spend some time learning about the Muslim faith and the Mosque itself.”
It was a great learning experience for the residents who wanted to learn more about the Islamic faith.
The event was showcased by a beautiful exhibition giving visitors an insight into the history of the religion, including manuscripts and artefacts which displayed the background of the Islamic faith.
Basingstoke MP Maria Miller added: "Many different religious groups play an important role in our community, including the Mosque on Sarum Hill. I was delighted to visit the Mosque again on their Open Day, to meet the Imam and some of the hundreds of people who worship there.
