A MERCEDES driver from Basingstoke has been handed a fine after admitting to speeding in Southampton.
On May 1, 2021, David Barnes, of Cliddesden Court, drove on the A3024 eastbound at 40mph. The limit is 30mph.
Appearing at Aldershot Magistrates’ Court on August 1 2022, the 38-year-old pleaded guilty and was fined £66, plus a £34 surcharge.
His driving record was also endorsed with three penalty points.
A BASINGSTOKE man has been found guilty of driving while more than twice the drink limit.
On July 24, 2021, Max Antonowicz, of Timberlake Road, drove along New Road, Basingstoke, with 71 microgrammes of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath in his system.
The limit is 35.
The 37-year-old pleaded not guilty to the offence on September 30, 2021, but was found guilty at Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court on August 1 2022.
Antonowicz additionally pleaded guilty to assaulting a man, and failing to provide driver identity to the police, both on the same date.
He was handed fined totally £220, plus costs of £100 and a £34 surcharge.
He was also disqualified from driving for 18 months.
A HOOK woman has been forced to pay hundreds of pounds after drug driving in Basingstoke.
On April 4, Sophie Best, of Morris Street, drove on Eastrop Way with 7ug/L of cannabinoid THC in her blood. The legal limit is 2.
The 35-year-old pleaded guilty at Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court on August 2.
She was handed a £2246, plus costs of £40 and a £34 surcharge.
Best was also disqualified from driving for 12 months.
A MAN from Sherfield-on-Loddon has been fined and disqualified after drug driving on the motorway.
On May 8, Christopher Handslip, of Amport Road, drove on the M3 northbound at Winchester with more than 3.5ug/L of cannabinoid THC in his blood. The limit is 2.
At Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court on August 2, the 32-year-old pleaded guilty and was fined £120, plus costs of £40 and a £34 surcharge.
He was also disqualified from driving for 12 months.
A HOOK man has been fined thousands of pounds after driving in the village while three times the drink driving limit.
On July 16, Thomas Phillips, of Chequers Lane, Eversley, drove a Honda Civic along Bramshill Road after consuming so much alcohol that the recorded level was 105 microgrammes per 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35.
Appearing at Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court on August 2, the 36-year-old pleaded guilty and was fined £2,500.He must also pay costs of £85 and a surcharge of £1,000- making a total of £3,585 - and was disqualified from driving for 25 months.
A BASINGSTOKE man has been handed a fine and disqualification after admitting to drink driving in the town - while also not having the relevant licence or insurance.
On July 17, Grant Ayres, of Copland Close, was driving on St John’s Piece, Oakley, with 95 microgrammes of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35.
The 29-year-old was also found to be without the relevant licence or insurance documents.
Appearing at Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court on August 2, he pleaded guilty to all three offences
He was fined at total of £270, plus costs of £40 and a £80 surcharge.
He was also disqualified from holding a licence for 24 months.
A BASINGSTOKE man has been fined hundreds of pounds after being found guilty of assaulting a woman in the town.
Philip McLoughlin, of Kings Road, assaulted the woman on March 15 2021.
He pleaded not guilty on September 7, 2021, but was found guilty following a trial on June 20 2022.
At Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court on August 2, the 44-year-old was fined £415, plus costs of £300 and a £42 surcharge.
He must also complete up to 40 rehabilitation activity days.
