A LORRY was on fire on the M3 after the vehicle's brakes overheated.
The incident happened on Sunday, August 21, and reports were raised about a lorry fire on the hard shoulder of the southbound carriageway, between junctions 5 and 6 for Basingstoke.

A spokesperson from Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service said: "Two crews from Basingstoke were called yesterday morning at 9.28am following reports of a fire involving the brakes of a lorry on the hard shoulder of the M3 southbound carriageway.

"Firefighters found the fire was out on arrival and investigated the overheated brakes using a thermal imaging camera, after they had escorted the vehicle off the motorway, to junction 6.
"Crews returned to station at 9.58am."
