RESIDENTS have been warned to avoid lighting bonfires following two open fires near to Basingstoke.
Crews from Tadley Fire Station attended two separate fires on Sunday, August 21.
The first incident was a fire in the open at a residential property in Silchester, which was caused by a bonfire and the grassfire spread to an area approximately 74m x 50m.
The crew attended the fire along with crews from Basingstoke Fire Station.

The station warned residents to avoid lighting bonfires because despite the recent rain, the ground is still very dry.
On the same day crews from Tadley were called to a open fire at Wigmore Common.

They shared a video on Twitter that shows the damage caused.
The fire was reportedly approximately 100m x 100m with gorse, trees, and fences all alight.
They were assisted by one pump from Basingstoke Fire Station.
