NOMINATIONS have officially opened for the 2022-2023 Hampshire High Sheriff Awards.

Lady Edwina Grosvenor, the High Sheriff of Hampshire for 2022-2023, has opened the award nominations for the High Sheriff Community Awards.

She is calling for public servants, individuals, volunteers, charities and community groups to submit nominations.

Supported by the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Community Foundation (HIWCF), the awards recognise those who have gone above and beyond in the field of law and order and community justice, celebrating those who enhance safety and social cohesion across the county.

Last years’ recipients included the team at RNLI Lymington, the child bereavement charity Simon Says, and Blue Lamp Trust, an organisation that carries out free crime prevention and fire safety checks for the elderly.

Lady Grosvenor said: “There are so many inspirational people and organisations doing remarkable and vitally important work to help people in need across Hampshire.

“It is remarkable what an incredible range of people and groups are out there, undertaking hugely diverse work offering some of the most disadvantaged people a chance to experience and take part in a stronger community.

“It has been a real privilege during my term in office to meet just a few of those who regularly go above and beyond in making Hampshire a better place to live and work.”

The awards will be presented by the High Sheriff at a ceremony in Winchester in 2023, marking the end of Lady Grosvenor’s time in the position.

She continued: “I am incredibly grateful for what these individuals and groups have done and for what they continue to do, and I encourage nominations to the High Sheriff of Hampshire Community Awards, in order that we can recognise the significant effort and contribution that helps to keep our communities safe and thriving.
