THE headteacher of a Basingstoke school said he is happy to see his students’ “perseverance paid off” after achieved great results in GCSE examinations.
Aldworth School, in Western Way, saw some incredible results this year, including that of James Wood.
The 16-year-old scored five 9s, three 8s, two 7s and one 6.
After catching no sleep on the results evening, James was happy to find he received excellent results. He is now going to Queen Mary’s College to study double maths, physics and chemistry.
Reacting to the overall results, headteacher Chris Rice said: “I’m very proud of all our students, who have achieved some excellent results this year, and pleased for them that their hard work and perseverance has paid off.
“Thank you to our brilliant staff and parents for your support, and congratulations Year 11.”
