Dear Editor,
I've wondered for some time if designers/planners of Thornycroft Roundabout may have come up with their plan after a party (i.e. they were intoxicated) because it is total nonsense.
Driving from Winchester Road lane two is ahead only, driving from leisure park lane two is ahead or left, driving from Houndmills lane two is ahead or left.
Driving from town left two lanes must turn left, maybe four different people chose a junction and there was no discussion? It's rubbish and I think 99 per cent of us (even children) could have designed it better.
How many accidents, even fatal ones, will it take before they do something. Is there really so much traffic leaving town needing to head south that they needed two lanes dedicated to it?
Drivers leaving Morrisons/Wickes slip road (Morris Road) onto Churchill Way West - if they want to head towards the leisure park/Buckskin need to cross two lanes of traffic and find a gap in lane three and all of that within 100 yards of the roundabout? Really!
Why don't planners ask the people who actually use the roads?
