HUNDREDS of walkers donned their best 90s outfits to take part in St Michael’s Hospice's annual Moonlight Walk.
The 300 walkers were in good spirits as they headed out from Festival Place at 9pm and were still smiling when they returned from the 10k walk around Basingstoke, on Saturday, September 24.
They together raised £22,000 for the hospice.
In recognition of the hospice’s 30th anniversary, the event celebrated the 90s with outfits from the Spice Girls, Mario Cart, Wayne’s World, a Jurassic Park dinosaur, the Scooby Doo Mystery Machine car and lots of bum bags and ‘I Love 90s’ t-shirts.
Face painting team The Routine Riots glammed everyone up before they stopped for a picture at the photo booth and watched a flash mob from BATS dance to the Spice Girls.
Events manager for the hospice Becky Legate said: “Thank you to all of our supporters who took part in the Moonlight Walk and to all the volunteers that contributed and helped deliver the event. The Moonlight Walk has raised over £22,000 so far which is an amazing total and we are so thankful to everyone involved. We can’t wait to see everyone next year!
“We’d also like to thank the local companies and groups who supported the event; Festival Place, Basingstoke Deane Rotary Club, Storck UK, Projected Image, Lavazza, Morrisons, The Routine Riots, The Proper Booth, Beechdown Health Club, BATS, Basingstoke Rugby Club and Hampshire and Berkshire 4x4 Response.”
As well as having lots of fun, the walkers helped raise vital income for the hospice. Around 84 per cent of its funds comes from the generosity of the local community.
