WINKLEBURY Junior School in Basingstoke continues to be a 'good' rated school after being inspected by Ofsted in July.
On July 5 and 6, Ofsted visited the junior school along Willoughby Way and concluded that the school would continued to be rated 'good' following their previous short inspection on March 14 in 2017.
Amongst the many positives, the Ofsted report concluded that the teachers at Winklebury Junior School know exactly how to help pupils to become fluent readers. They regulary read to their class and pupils receieve daily practice where they are supported to develop both their comprehension skills and vocabulary.
The school was also noted as providing tailored support to pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) through a wide range of strategies to meet their needs. Ofsted added to improve this, teachers could put a deeper focus on developing what students already know to ensure they are suitably challenged.
Overall, Year 6 pupils were described as being well prepared for moving onto their chosen secondary school.
