A MAJOR road in Tadley will be completely closed for five days as part of construction of a new Lidl store.
A340 between Silchester Road and Aldermaston Road in Tadley will be closed from Monday, October 17, to Friday, October 21.
There will be further night-time closure on the same stretch from Monday, October 24, to Friday, October 28.

The closure is to enable a connection from the new store to the existing foul sewer, which is located on the west side of the A340.
During the road closure, several other utility services like telecoms, water and electricity supplies will also be laid across the A340.
The new Lidl in Tadley is set to open in December this year.
According to a Lidl spokesperson, the foul sewer connection is in such a location that it cannot be carried out safely by its contractor without a 24-hour road closure.
The business said it was considered by the majority of stakeholders that rather than having several periods of disruption over the course of the construction period, it would be better to close the section of road for one week and carry out all of the work in one go.
The 24-hour closure will commence at 7.30 am on Monday, October 17, and will be completed by 5pm on Friday, October 21.

A night-time closure will start at 7.30pm on Monday, October 24, and end at 6am the next day. The closure will be in place during the same time over the next four days.
There will be two diversion routes in place, one for local (non-HGV) vehicles and another for HGV vehicles, using equivalent A class roads. Pedestrian/cyclist access past the works will be unaffected and access for residents living on this section of road will be maintained.
Lidl acknowledged that this will "undoubtedly be an inconvenience" and the business apologised to road users in advance.
