A SPECTACULAR Festival of Light parade will take place in Basingstoke later this month, organised by a local dance company.
Kala the Arts will create a river of light through the town on Friday, October 21 when the parade brings together young people, community groups and amazing puppets and musicians to celebrate Diwali.
The parade - a free event for the whole community - will start at the Top of Town at 6.30pm before making its way down to the Amphitheatre outside Vue, in Festival Place where there will be a performance at 7pm.

Members of the public can expect to be wowed by dancing, drumming, lanterns, illuminated installations, animated animal and theatre costumes and music from Niraj Chag.
To celebrate Diwali there will also be a host of workshops and activities taking place in Festival Place from Tuesday, October 18 to Saturday, October 22.

This includes a workshop with Basingstoke artist Junk Jodie from 4pm to 7.30pm on Tuesday, October 18 and Wednesday, October 19, as well as storytelling and paper lantern making with Scratch Built Productions.
