ONE of the most famous ballets in the world is heading to Basingstoke to impress audiences this Christmas.
Christmas wouldn’t be the same without a trip to a dazzling production of the most famous ballet in the world, The Nutcracker.
As a result Anvil Arts is delighted that The Classical Ballet and Opera House is bringing the lavish ballet, featuring a live orchestra with over 30 musicians, to The Anvil on Friday, October 28.

Snow flurries, sweets, princes, magic, and love are just some of the elements that will be brought together in this highly accessible ballet, full of familiar music such as the Waltz of the Flowers and the Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy.
On a sparkling Christmas Eve in a frost-dusted Edwardian London, Clara receives an enchanted Nutcracker as a present. Together, they discover a magical world where she battles with the Mouse King and meets a handsome stranger. As the air grows colder, Clara and her valiant Nutcracker take a hot air balloon ride across London to the glistening Land of Snow where a puppet theatre comes to life with dancers from around the world.
From the sound of the orchestra tuning up, to the final bows and cheers, a trip to English National Ballet’s Nutcracker in the splendour of the London Coliseum is an unforgettable Christmas treat.

The Nutcracker is an 1892 two-act ballet, originally choreographed by Marius Petipa and Lev Ivanov with a score by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky. The libretto is adapted from E.T.A. Hoffmann's 1816 short story The Nutcracker and the Mouse King.
The ballet is famously filled with mystery and romance, it continues to capture the hearts and imaginations of all generations across the world.
It is a truly captivating piece of theatre, a wonderful introduction to ballet whilst retaining its appeal for anyone who is familiar with it.
