HAIRDRESSERS from a salon in Basingstoke have treated Ukrainian refugees to a cut and blow dry and hope other salons will follow suit.
The owner of Marco Polo Hair in Basingstoke Karen Olliver organised the day to give something back to refugees who have been through a tough time.
The day was branded sunflower hair day - the sunflower being the national symbol for Ukraine. Refugees were invited to the salon on Monday, October 10 from 1pm until 7pm.

Karen said: "We have called this day sunflower hair day and have used the national flower and we have invited the refugees to come and enjoy a cut and blow dry."
Karen, alongside fellow hairdresser Claire Kemp, wanted to do something to help and both said it is a great feeling to do something nice.
Clients who regularly attend the salon clubbed together to bake cakes for the refugees to enjoy alongside the complementary service.
Karen's friend also made some special goodie bags, which were filled with hair treats that those who attended took home.
Claire added: "Karen has worked hard to organise this but it is great to be a part of."
Karen contacted Communities for Ukraine, who organised for 10 refugees to come down to the salon.
The hairdressing pair hope to inspire other salons in Basingstoke to do the same, in a bid to start a trend and bring the community together.
Karen added: "We would really like other salons to do this, if any salons wish to take part we would like them to contact us first."
Any salon wishing to take part should contact Karen via Instagram which can be found at @marcopolohairsalon.
