Basingstoke Ladies 1s, sponsored by KJ Smith Solicitors, were at home to Team Bath Buccaneers Ladies 1s this week.
After a close game last week both teams started the game strong with a flurry of attacks at both ends and some superstar defending from the Basingstoke back line.
Bath proved to be just too much for the Basingstoke team in the end and slotted in some well worked goals.
With a couple of cards and a marathon of running from both teams the game ended 0-6. They have a rest next week and will wait to face Oxford Hawks on October 29.
Basingstoke Men’s 1s travelled to face Trojans’ Men’s 1s this week. Despite going 0-3 down in the first 10 minutes, Basingstoke were able to bring one back at half time through Quinten Eacrett. However, Trojans continued to press on and the game ended 1-6.
Basingstoke Ladies 2s faced local rivals Winchester Ladies 1s this week, who had been relegated into the league for this season.
Winchester started well with a few early chances, however Basingstoke did not let this panic them and started to build their own play. This led to two goals from player of the match Sienna Boyce.
Winchester responded and brought one back through a penalty corner strike. Basingstoke pushed on in the second half and earnt another goal through Gilly Dunning after some strong team play down the right. The game ended 3-1.
Basingstoke Men’s 2s drew 1-1 with Bournemouth Men’s 1s, the goal from captain Phil Stewart.
Basingstoke Ladies 3s lost 4-6 to Salisbury Ladies 2s, with a flurry of goals in the second half, with a hat-trick from Heidi Lloyd and the fourth from Connie Pike. Basingstoke Men’s 3s drew 0-0 with Southampton Uni 4’s.
Basingstoke Ladies 4s lost 1-2 to Hamble. Basingstoke Men’s 4s had a fantastic 6-0 win against Lavant 1s, with goals from four different scorers.
Basingstoke Men’s 5s continued their good form with a hard fought 0-0 draw against Hamble. Chances for both teams throughout the game kept the match finally balanced. The Hamble goalkeeper had an exceptional match keeping the score at 0-0 despite. Basingstoke’s momentum towards the end.
Basingstoke Ladies 5s travelled to the Isle of Wight and managed to secure a hard earned point due to a goal from Karen Binney.
Basingstoke Men’s 6s beat Alton 3-2 to continue their strong start to the season,
Basingstoke Ladies 6s took the three points this week as well, beating Petersfield 4-3 at home.
All Basingstoke teams have the week off next week, October 22, for half term. The Ladies 1s continue their league on October 29 against Oxford Hawks. All other teams will continue the league on November 5.
