A POPULAR bakery chain could be coming to a Kingsclere – a planning application has revealed.
The application was submitted to Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council by Wyeth Projects Services, and details plans to add a single-storey extension to the Kingsclere Service Station located along the A339.
The plans would see the forecourt shop building, which is currently occupied by Budgens, extended to contain a storeroom with a publicly accessible toilet.
While Greggs is not mentioned in the applications planning statement, the name of the bakery chain can be seen on the proposed building plan, suggesting that the chain is coming to Kingsclere.

Additionally, on the proposed site plan an area to the south east of the building has been designated as a “Food to Go” area.
The planning statement says: “The extension will provide space for new additional walk-in chiller and freezer units together with better merchandising storage options.
“The increased space will also allow re-locating the toilet to a more customer accessible location, especially for disabled use.
“Having this extension will enable the existing shop ‘back-of-house’ interior layout to be rationalised and the present food-to-go offer to be improved with better operating conditions for the existing staff, and improving the customer interface.
“The existing site entrance and exit points will be retained and the forecourt layout is unaltered.”
